Scientific name: Chrozophora rottleri (Geiseler) A.Juss. ex Spreng.

Family: Euphorbiaceae

Synonym: Croton plicatus Vahl

Bengali/Vernacular name: Khudi okra, Khudi phora.

English name: Turnsole.

Description of the plant: An erect herb with silvery hairs, lower part of stem is naked, upper part hairy. Leaves are hairy on both sides, ovate to circular, with wavy margin. Flowers are small, yellowish. Male flowers petals ovate. Female flowers sepals triangular, acute. Fruit a capsule.

Ethnomedicinal uses: A paste is made with the leaves of the plant are applied on the cutting place by tying with a piece of cloth once a day for three days to healing cutting wounds.

Juice of the fruit is given in cases of cough and cold.

Decoction prepared from the plant is advised to take for the treatment of skin disease.

Distribution: It is found in Noakhali, Kushtia, Jessore, and Magura districts.
