Description of the plant: Annual semi aquatic herb, up to 1.2 m high. Leaves simple, alternate, lower leaves petiolate, lamina oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, base gradually narrowed down into petiole, margin almost entire, slightly undulate, apex acute, upper leaves smaller, with short or no petiole. Flwers pedicellate, bisexual, arranged in axillary clusters. Fruit a nut.
