Description of the plant: Annual semi aquatic herb, up to 1.2 m high. Leaves simple, alternate, lower leaves petiolate, lamina oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, base gradually narrowed down into petiole, margin almost entire, slightly undulate, apex acute, upper leaves smaller, with short or no petiole. Flwers pedicellate, bisexual, arranged in axillary clusters. Fruit a nut.

Medicinal uses: Crushed paste of fruit is applied for the treatment of ringworm and skin disease.
The fruit is used to treat impotence.
A paste is made with the fruits of the plant is applied on the burning wound and kept for three days to treat it.
Distribution: All over the country in marshy places.
